Try Before You Buy

Are you thinking about purchasing a Homegrown Trailer, but want to try before you buy? You can rent a trailer from Kirkland, WA for a weekend or longer and when you decide you want one of your very own, we'll apply 50% of your rental cost to the purchase of your new trailer (up to $1,000). You must order within a month of your rental trip to take advantage of this offer. It's a no-lose opportunity! Rent here or write us at with questions.

Our trailer is lighter than many others in its class, however, you'll still need the right vehicle to tow our 2,500 lbs trailers. We actually recommend you have a vehicle that can tow 2,700-3,500 lbs once you load it full of water, food, clothes, and other gear. Many small SUV/crossovers fit the bill, including (but not limited to) these:

Acura MDX V6

Audi Q5/7

BMW X3/4/5/6

Buick Enclave V6

Ford Edge V6

Ford Escape

Honda Odyssey

Honda Pilot V6

Hyundai Santa Fe V6

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Kia Sorrento

Land Rover LR2/4

Lexus 350 V6

Mazda CX9 V6

Mitsubishi Outlander V6

Nissan Murano V6

Nissan Xterra V6

Subaru Outback V6

Toyota 4Runner V6

Toyota Highlander V6

VW Touareg

Volvo S60/80

Volvo XC60/70/80/90

To check your vehicle, we recommend Trailer Life's helpful web tool

Some of you have vehicles that are capable of towing our trailers or can borrow one from a friend or family member during your trip. However, if you need to rent a vehicle, here are a few options. Check the individual sites for availability and pricing (FYI, quotes often depend on estimated miles to be traveled).

Enterprise Truck Rentals - They give our customers a special pickup truck rental rate of $69.99/day or $350/week. There are three Puget Sound locations, Seattle (SoDo), Kent/Tukwila, and Tacoma/Fife, although on a case-by-case basis they may deliver a truck to a nearby Kirkland, WA Enterprise Rent-a-Car location.

U-Haul - There are numerous corporate and franchise locations around the Puget Sound area.

Del's Truck Rentals - This is a good local option in Woodinville.

You'll need a Class II receiver with a 2" ball hitch that's about 16" off the ground and a 4-pin wire connector.

We have partnered with tow hitch installer Rack N Road to give our customers a 20% discount on all towing related products such as hitches, wiring, ball mount, and balls.  Please tell them that Homegrown Trailers sent you to receive your discount. They have two Puget Sound locations:

    7918 Aurora Ave N, Seattle, WA 98103, (206) 528-8090

    11635 NE 8th St, Bellevue, WA 98005, (425) 957-7225

Some U-Haul locations also provide this service. Click link to check their pricing and locations.
